After lots of rumors and plenty of exploits, @pod2g an iOS device hacker has found the way to untether JailBreak iOS 5. To prove his claim, he has also posted the video on twitter. Unfortunately, due to some country specific restrictions, we are not able to watch the video right now. But his tweet suggests that iOS 5 untethered JailBreak is imminent and we would be able to use it soon.
Earlier, MuscleNerd also told us about the upcoming updates in Redsn0w which would allow us to restore on iOS 5.0+ firmware (any version). For this, you need to save your SHSH Blobs using TinyUmbrella. On the other hand, P0sixninja has also released a crash reporter tool which will give him more power to find exploits for an untethered JailBreak. Before chronic DevTeam could do something, we have @pod2g in action once again.
There’s no confirmation on the type of exploit that @pod2g has used to make it possible. Though, it seems that this exploit would work only on iOS 5 firmware, that is, Apple could have patched it on iOS 5.0.1 which was released few days ago. Update 1: Pod2g hasn’t started the work on iPhone 4S or iPad 2 because he doesn’t own those devices yet. He would also try to implement the exploit on iOS 5.0.1 as well.
