iOS 5.1 Beta Hints At Quad Core Processors Being Used By Apple For Testing

There’s is a possibility that Apple might be trying out the iOS 5.1 beta in upcoming devices which could feature Quad core processors. Two of the expected devices where these processors could be used are iPad 3 and iPhone 5. iPad 3 is about to complete a year and Apple would come out with the successor in coming months. According to 9to5Mac, iOS 5.1 Beta hints at those Quad core processor being used by Apple for the testing purpose.

However, this couldn’t be a coincidence because the digit totally changes in the pre-release of iOS 5.1 beta. It is only iOS 5.1 Beta where this thing has happened. In the image, you can clearly see “core.1” which was mentioned before and dramatically, the digits has been changed to ‘core.3’ in the files of iOS 5.1 Beta. Undoubtedly, Apple might be planning to come out with a faster tablet or smartphone in 2012.

Apparently, to accommodate a higher resolution display, one also needs a quad core processor. So, there are plenty of chances that iPad 3 would feature a Retina display, similar to what we use in the iPhone 4/4S. Though, the Retina display used in the iPad 3 would be much bigger in comparison to that of iPhone. As per the trend of Apple, the successor of recent chip should be named A6 which is rumored to be unveiled in 2012 as well.

What do you think about it?
