Geohot Returns To iOS Hacking, Quits Job At Facebook

Geohot is from those days when we didn’t even know how to unlock an iPhone. In fact, he is the first person who came up with a hardware method to run first generation iPhone on any cellular network. However, from the past few years, Geohot declared that he would be moving from the iOS hacking community and joined Facebook. As per the recent report from businessinsider, Geohot is back to hacking after quitting his job at Facebook.

Geohot was spotted competing in a hackathon at Backplane, startup funded by Lady Gaga. The last tool which Geohot released was limera1n which led to a wastage of an exploit from @Pod2G. He even deleted his account from twitter a while ago and never returned back with any updates. Also, Geohot has always been involved in PS 3 JailBreak, due to which Sony sued him in the past. The exploit which Geohot found out is associated with bootrom, helped others a lot to make a tethered JailBreak possible form time to time.

At the competition, Geohot was developing an application which would allow users to locate position of their friends on a map. It means that you could actually know where your friends are through Facebook. Unexpectedly, he was not alone. Another person, Aviv Ovadya was contributing to develop on the front end mapping part. On the other hand, Geohot was busy in designing the API and implementing the information on a map.

Would it help iOS hacking community in anyway? Let’s know what do you think in the comment section.
