While restoring my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.0.1 custom firmware on iPad baseband, i came across a weird issue which never happened to me previously. Even after selecting the option to hacktivate on Pwnage tool, iPhone 3GS got stuck on the same activation screen. At first, i thought that i might have restored wrong firmware in iTunes. But even after several continuous restores, things didn’t work out.
So, i reverted back to the famous JailBreaking tool from DevTeam, Redsn0w 0.9.10b5. Undoubtedly, in addition to JailBreaking your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, it provides a functionality to hacktivate your iPhone. However, i barely used it once the scene of custom firmware came into existence after the obsolescence of iPhone 2G on the software front. So i went ahead and ran the JailBreaking tool over it.
Fortunately, everything appeared in the same typical manner. And finally, i was able to surpass that activation screen from iPhone 3GS on iOS 5.0.1 after resorting with custom firmware. If you have been facing the similar issue, i would suggest you to run the latest Redsn0w. Sometimes, even the custom firmware could mess up with your hacktivation process.
