Siri Helps Wolfram Alpha Grow Further, Accounts For 25% Traffic!

Apple in a way made a wise decision by relying on Wolfram Alpha for performing majority of the tasks that are performed by Siri, the personal voice assistant on iPhone 4S which alone accounts to 25% of the traffic that is being catered by Wolfram Alpha.

The recent reports by New York Times say that the latest surge in usage of Wolfram Alpha which was criticized at launch back in 2009 has driven them to increase their workforce to 200! With this, Wolfram Alpha has planned a new set of features with the new Wolfram Alpha Pro service ($4.99/mo) which takes it one step further and adds support to data and images as well.

A demo of the new service showcased pretty impressive features. In one example shown to reporters, creator Dr. Stephen Wolfram dragged a table of France’s gross domestic product figures from 1961 to 2010 and the bar chart was generated automatically by the service and in another a 3D image of a guitar was dragged into the software, and Wolfram Alpha returned with the number of polygons included in the image.

This opens up doors to the what can be expected from the next generation of SIRI. Imagine the kind of powerful analysis SIRI can provide with these new inclusions.
