Apple Completes 25th Billion Application Download, $10,000 iTunes Gift Card Goes To A Person From China

Since long time, the counting for the 25th billion application download had started and Apple promised a $10,000 iTunes gift card for the person who would download their 25th billionth application. Today, the contest has come to an end. Hence, the promised iTunes gift card is already been gifted to Chunli Fu of Qingdao, China. The 25th billion application downloaded was ‘Where’s my water?”.

In addition to it, Apple has also pushed a press release which tells about their success in these past few years. According to the Eddy Cue, Apple senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, when App Store was launched back in 2008, Apple never imagined  it to gain such a momentum which became one of the reason for people to buy iDevices. The developers have built such an incredible applications for the iOS users. Even though competitors have come up with their own marketplaces for the application downloads, but none  has been able to to come even close.

Currently, App Store has 5,50,000 apps for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. Out of which 1,70,000 alone contributes to the iPad. Moreover, there are several different categories of the application for the iOS users including news stand, games, news, sports etc. It seems that Apple is pretty optimistic with their application ecosystem which had driven sales of their products in the past. If it continues, Apple could capture the mobile marketshare in future as well.
