In the special event today in San Francisco, Apple unveiled its much awaited next generation tablet. Apple CEO, Tim Cook, talked about the success of the App Store and how Apple completely changed the life of millions of people with their new category called ‘iPad’. You might find it a tad weird, but the next gen iPad has been named – ‘The new iPad’. Read on to know what’s so new in it.

1)  Retina Display

After numerous rumors, this is now a reality. Apple introduced Retina display in the iPhone 4 and with ‘the new iPad’, they have finally bought it in iPad. Undoubtedly, most people would prefer to buy the new iPad only due to this reason. It is because people already have an impression how clear and refined the Retina display is, and they must be curious to know how it would look on a 9 inch display. To illustrate the same, Apple has tried to demonstrate it on their site with a tag which says – “revolutionary” instead of “revolutionary”.

2) A 5 MP iSight Camera

Finally, Apple has bumped up the rear camera on the iPad. Now, it would capture the images which would be more detailed than ever. They have also defined the algorithm to improve the camera quality. It uses most advanced optics, an illumination sensor, adjusts the white balance and detect the faces automatically. In addition to it, you can make videos at 1080p which is an improvement over its predecessor that used to record at 720p.

3) Processor & Graphics

Although iPad still comes with a dual core CPU, but it now has a quad core GPU for the enhanced graphics. This quad core GPU would take the advantage of Retina display to display the graphics which you had not seen on a tablet before. Some upcoming games such as Infinity blade would use the actual capability of it. As rumored, it is called ‘A5X’ processor from Apple which breaks the ongoing trend of nomenclatures in iPad chips. Logically, it should have been called A6 instead.

4) 4G LTE

The new iPad uses the 4G LTE capability from the carriers. Doesn’t matter where you are, you can surf the internet, watch movies on youtube at blazing fast speed. It also supports HSPA+, DC-HSPA networks. If you have got 4G LTE in your country, Apple gives you the option to use speeds up to 42 Mbps on DC-HSPDA and  up to 21.1 Mbps on HSPA+.

5) Personal Hotspot

Due to the fact that the new iPad has iOS 5.1 pre-installed, the personal hotspot feature could be used for the 3G networks. Now, use your data connection on PC/Mac using USB, Bluetooth or Wifi. The 10 hours of battery life on iPad would make the device work for longer duration if the device is not connected to an external charger or USB. It is one of the much required feature for many people out there.

6) Battery Life

The new iPad still offers 10 hours of battery life on a single charge. However, the battery life would reduce to 9 hours if you use it on 4G LTE. It is one of the key features of the iPad since it has been launched and Apple has always tried its level best to keep that experience intact through its lithium polymer battery.

What do you have to say about it? Would you buy the next iPad? let’s know in the comment section.
