Will iPhone 5 Sport a 13MP Camera that Sony couldn't Supply For Note II?

Samsung unveiled the successor to its immensely successful Samsung Galaxy Note recently recently. The Galaxy Note II gets upgrade in every department apart from the camera, the same old 8MP sensor. Rumor mills are suggesting that Sony isn’t able to provide enough 13MP sensors to Samsung for the Note II, thus forcing Samsung to go with the old camera. However, Sony might well be supplying bulk of these sensors to Apple?

It is a known secret that the 8MP camera on the iPhone 4S was provided by Sony. Apple stressed hard on the iPhone 4S camera during launch and there is no reason why we should not expect a healthy upgrade in that department for the iPhone 5. Apart from the iPhone 3G, every iPhone upgrade has had a camera update. Overtime we have figured that Apple’s iPhone updates are of two kinds, evolutionary and revolutionary. The iPhone 3G and 3GS were a set, the 4 and the 4S were another set. The next iPhone upgrade is meant to be a major overhaul. A design refresh, that in all probability would get a major upgrade in the camera department as well.

It may be a bit far stretched to say that the iPhone 5 would have a upgraded 13 megapixel camera from Sony, but that seems to be a logical one. The LG Optimus G already seems to be preparing for the same and Apple has to get its WOW factor right on 12th September. A larger screen, iOS 6, new charging dock and a super camera, sounds like a recipe for the 2012 iPhone.
