iPad Mini Gets Cloned Hours After Launch

It might have been just hours since apple unveiled its all new iPad Mini at an event held at San Jose yesterday. But, a few hours is all it needs for Chinese company Goophone to announce its newest clone, the GooPad Mini. This Android powered iPad Mini knock off will run Jelly Bean and will sell for a paltry $99 in the bylanes of Shanghai.

While most people might smirk at the sheer brazenness of GooPhone in unveiling a cloned product, it is nothing short of an amazing achievement if the company has managed to clone the iPad mini in such quick time. The GooPad Mini will launch sometime in November 2012 – may be just days after the iPad Mini goes on sale.

From what we know now, the GooPad Mini features an 8 inch display with a resolution of 1024*768. The device would be powered by a dual core processor running at 1.4 Ghz. There is 1 GB of RAM as well as 8 GB of internal srorage which you can of course expand further using micro SD cards – unlike the case with that of the iPad Mini.

As you might have already figured out by now, this is not the first time gooPhone has cloned an Apple product. The company was already selling its own iPad clone – the GooPad,  apart from cloned versions of the iPhone 4S clone and the new iPhone 5.

Unlike Apple’s strict action against major players in the segment who have tried to copy their products, Goophone seems to be too small for Apple to take note. That said, Goophone seems to be well prepared for any eventuality should apple decide to go legal. In fact, the company has already warned Apple that their iPhone 5 clone the Goophone i5 has a design patent valid in China and that it would sue apple if they try to sell the iPhone 5 in China!

With the iPhone 5 slated to enter the Chinese market before year end, things could take an interesting turn!
