Project Amy: Integrate App.net messaging natively into Messages for the Mac

Are you a user of App.net? The check out this cool tweak from developer Steve Streza that integrated App.net messaging and file sharing into OSX native messaging application, iMessage.

Steve Streza is the person behind last year’s Apparchy that pulls out App.net timeline updates and displays them on native twitter client on iOS, but Apparchy failed to take off later on due to high dependencies on third party APIs and a proxy server maintained by Steve Streza. Whenever the proxy server went down or new versions of twitter clients are released Apparchy would go dead making it unusable.

Unlike Apparchy, project amy relies on App.net APIs only that makes it more usable and hassle free with updates. Also rather than maintaing a separate client on OSX it integrates the messaging and file sharing features right into iMessage. Follow the instructions below to install the tweak on OSX mountain lion
