IDC Predicts Sales Of Smartphones To Overtake Feature Phones In 2013

Smartphones, led by Apple’s iOS devices and Google’s Android are predicted to outsell feature phones worldwide in the year 2013 says IDC in a new report. There will be a total of 918.6 million smartphones predicted to be sold in 2013 that will comprise 50.1 of the total number of phones sold in 2013. Almost a third of these phones will be sold only in China, the worlds largest smartphone consumer already that beats the US by a huge factor mainly because of lot larger population. India, though being the second largest country by population still lags behind at 6th position because of much lesser smartphone adaption in the country but IDC predicts that India will take third spot by 2017 with an year over year growth of roughly 200% in India!

India still is a largely untapped market that is being to show up traits like the Chinese markets lately. Most local manufacturers are coming with an array of value for money devices that are beginning to dominate the smartphone market slowly by capturing the share from reputed manufacturers like Samsung.
