Apple Finally Offers VESA Mount Adapters For New iMacs

In October 2012 Apple launched the super thin version of its new iMac that was applauded to be a technological marvel. But users soon spotted a major disappointment after knowing that the new iMac did not support the VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) mount which is an international standard for mounts. Apple soon acknowledged that it would consider adding the VESA mount option to the iMac but never furnished any concrete details for the same. Yesterday, German blog iFun spotted that Apple started offering VESA mount for iMac buyers for an extra $40 premium and with an estimated shipping time of 7 to 10 business days for shipping the same.

Apple doesn’t seem to be considering this as a major addition because users are not informed of this option nowhere on the site till they actually go in for the configuration link at the bottom of the iMac configuration page. Nevertheless, this is a welcome addition for most users who already have been using the VESA mount for various purposes.

Apple says that

The iMac with built in VESA mount adapter is ready to pair with your favourite VESA-compatible wall mount, desk mount or articulating arm (sold separately). This iMac doesn’t include a stand, so a mount is required. If you don’t already have a mount, you can purchase one when you configure the iMac.
