Galaxy S4 Might Eat Into Other Galaxy Devices Market Share But Not iPhone

Samsung slowly dethroned Apple purely by number of devices sold, with its atrocious marketing campaigns and direct attacks at Apple. The huge customer base it built up was just perfect to pitch its lead up ahead of Apple by a higher margin but with the launch of Galaxy S4 various blogs started calling it a great device but it isn’t a huge leap ahead, it just feels like an iterative version of Galaxy S3. Analysts started to bring in their views that Samsung could not furnish a device that could capture more Apple fans and it was a disappointment. Well, now we have some supporting numbers from Gazelle that confirm analysts claims. Gazelle is an online portal that buys used devices from users and offers attractive amount depending on the condition of the device. In an interview to CNBC, Gazelle’s CEO and Co-founder, Israel Ganot confirmed more sad news for Samsung.

Ganot said that his site recorded a huge spike in number of Galaxy devices being sold as soon as Galaxy S4 was announced and not much change in number of iPhones being sold. This speaks volumes about the current market position of Apple and Samsung. While Samsung might have been able to turn some Apple fanboys into Samsung and Android fanboys it is still stuck in a position where it is not able to push things further.

Previously even Phil Schiller voiced out his opinion saying that every new model of iPhone witnesses more number of prospective Android buyers turning out to iPhone buyers. Also we reported of an article recently citing news from JD Power which declared iPhone as the most satisfying phone for smartphones users for the 9th time in a row. Almost all of the Android OEMs sadly were positioned below the average scale of customer satisfaction index showing that iOS still is the most usable OS and Android OEMs are competing amongst themselves to gain marketshare.
