Similarities Between iPhone and Galaxy SIII Users

While the ongoing battle between iOS fans and Android fans seems imminent research analysts from CIRP (AppleInsider) find rather similar usage patterns between iPhone users and Android users in most major aspects when it surveyed 500 iPhone users and 500 Galaxy S3 users in the months of January and February. We could cumulate most of the research findings in this post for our readers. Few of the dissimilarities, as expected, were in terms of carrier choices, future device purchase, tablet purchase and PC/Desktop/Laptop purchase patterns.

Calling: Almost the same (less heavily used)

Email: Almost the same (less heavily used)

Texting: Almost the same (80% to 90%)

Internet Access: Around 80% of iPhone owners and around 75% of Galaxy S3 owners

Gaming: 80% of iPhone owners with one to two times a day and 70% of Galaxy S3 owners with same usage

Photos: Almost the same as above with 80% of iPhone users and 70% of Galaxy S3 users.

Other devices: iPhone users owned more of Macs with around 20% of them against 7% of Galaxy S3 owners owning a Mac. iPhone users were owning and iPad mostly and Galaxy S3 users owning an android tablet mostly. Also iPhone users were more likely to own a kindle.
Upgrade: Most iPhone users preferred to upgrade to an iPhone and most Galaxy S3 users preferred to upgrade to another Android device. Only 10% of Galaxy S3 owners wanted to move to an iPhone.
Carriers: Almost 50% of iPhone users are using AT&T and wanted to stick to it with remaining 35% from Verizon and 10% from Sprint. With Galaxy S3 the users were distributed almost equally across all three carriers.
