HMD Global Promises Android P Upgrade for Existing Nokia Phones in 2018

The Android 8.0 Oreo was officially introduced in August. Soon after its launch, the rumor mill revealed that Google is already working on Android P that will be releasing next year. During a recent press event in Philippines, HMD Global confirmed that all the existing Nokia phones would be upgraded to Android P in 2018. Currently, all the Nokia smartphones that have released so far are running on Android Nougat and are yet to receive Android 8.0 Oreo update.
Since the Finnish company has now made a statement on releasing Android P for its smartphones, it seems that Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 will be receiving the successor edition of Android Oreo next year.
It seems that the rumored Nokia 9 flagship that is speculated to debut in this quarter will be also eligible to receive Android P upgrade. The alleged Nokia 2 entry-level phone may not be powerful enough to get Android P. It remains to be seen whether it will be treated with Android Oreo.
In the previous week, the Finnish firm also confirmed that the Android 8.0 Oreo would be released to Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 before the end of the year. This indicates that the Nokia 3 will be the cheapest smartphone to get the Oreo update.  As far as Nokia 8 is concerned, it will be receiving Android 8.0 Oreo later in this month.
The Nokia 8 is already available in some countries, but there are many nations that are going to receive the flagship phone in this week. Hence, it appears that the Finnish firm is working on rolling out Android O as early as possible for the Nokia 8 buyers. This will not only assist in driving the sales of the flagship smartphone but also it will help in building trust the Nokia brand.
The Nokia 8 will be the first phone from the company to get Android O. However, will it be able to keep its promise of Android Oreo to Nokia 3, 5 and 6 before the end of his year? Share us your thoughts by adding your comments below.
