New 13-inch MacBook Air Launching in Q2 With Affordable Pricing

In January, DigiTimes had reported that Apple will be introducing an entry-level MacBook this year.KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo who is well-known for revealing leaked information on forthcoming Apple products has revealed during the past weekend that the Cupertino company will be launching a low-priced version of MacBook Air. He has stated that the device will be made official as early as in the second quarter of the year.
Apart from the lower price tag, Kuo has not disclosed any information on specs of the upcoming MacBook Air. Since 2015, Apple has not released a new MacBook Air as the firm started concentrating on launching 12-inch MacBook and MacBook Pro.

Last year, it had discontinued the 11-inch MacBook Air. The only major update that the company has introduced in the MacBook Air lineup is the introduction of better base model in June last year. The existing 13-inch MacBook is selling with a price tag of $999. This indicates that the forthcoming entry-level MacBook may arrive with a cheaper pricing.

None of the MacBook Air models that are available in the market feature Retina Display. Hence, it is speculated that the forthcoming MacBook Air may possibly arrive with Retina Display. It is pretty obvious that the new 13-inch MacBook Air will be decked with new processor and graphics. The new device is also expected come equipped with USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports.

Since Kuo has claimed that a budget-friendly MacBook Air is arriving in the second quarter of this year, it seems that the company may announce it at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2018 event that will be held in June. Apple will be using the platform to announce the new version of tvOS, watch, macOS 10.14 and iOS 12. The company is also rumored to debut the second-generation version of the iPhone SE that was launched in 2016.

Apart from revealing information on the upcoming MacBook Air, Kuo has stated that since the shipments of AirPods suggest positive response from the audience, Apple may launch a refreshed edition in the second half of this year. The analyst has once again claimed that the company is likely to release a 6.1-inch iPhone. Lastly, Kuo claims that the demand for the HomePod smart speaker is “neutral” which indicates that it has encountered a mediocre reception.
