iPhone Bluetooth File Transfer (How To)

iOS bluetooth file transfer hack, iPhone cydia tools

iPhone is the top smartphone in the market. It is the only phone with billions of applications and games in the App Store. Only thing which is missing in this revolutionary device is the absence of file transfer over Bluetooth. People have always wondered that Apple will support it in the next software upgrade but disappointed of them all. This let hackers to create some tweaks/application which sends files from iPhone / iPad / iPod touch over bluetooth to other smartphones available in the market.

iBluenova

First, it was iBluenova that ended up working after the iOS 4.0 release. It was basically an application that allowed you file tranfer from one iPhone to another, iPhone to other phones such as Nokia, Sony, etc, iPhone to windows or Mac. Though, it was a hell lot buggy because data transfer fails at any point of time and you couldn’t migrate big files such as videos, podcasts etc. Till then, it never live up again in the Apple territory.

Celeste

After the iOS 4.0 release, Celeste, a tweak came into existence that does the exactly same work but it was more intuitive. You don’t need to open an application for the file transfer. It was integrated in the system files itself. Just tap on any area and it will show the pop up with an option of ‘send’ on the top of it. It worked well for most people but the overall support was limited to certain smarthpones, that is, you couldn’t send data over bluetooth over certain phones in the market. However, the list of the supported phone was not mentioned anywhere with the tweak in cydia. It was prices for $9.99 in the cydia store till it stopped working.

With some modifications in the iOS and the release of each firmware in the iTunes, Celeste completely messed up with the system files. As a result, it sopped working in the latest firmware (iOS 4.3.3). The developer didn’t even bother to rectify it for the people who bought the tweak at such high costs. Now, the recent scenario is that there is no application/tweak available in cydia that allows you to transfer files over bluetooth for iPhone. Let’s wait and watch if the developer gets it working after the iOS 5 release this fall.
