The Apple iPhone is no conventional smartphone. Apple had its own way of presenting things, and it sure did it in style. However, as suggested in my earlier post about The Future iPhones, Apple now plans to target each and every segment of the market. Doing so shall require them to match several features that all the other smartphones offer! So here we see Apple preparing for Handwriting Recognition on Mac OS and the iPhone.
The Capacitive touch screen on the iPhones is revolutionary and works on body heat. That means if you use a stylus on the screen, it won’t work. This poses a challenge for Apple when they try to implement handwriting recognition on the iPhone or any other device with a capacitive touchscreen. These displays are the future, but the challenges are new.
Apparently, Apple is on a lookout for suitable candidate(s) experience with writing in Apple’s Cocoa programming interface, to improve the main operating system (OS X). The posting by Apple also mentions that the recognition technology could extend beyond Mac OS X “to other applications and the iPhone.”
Another area Apple might be seriously looking at can be Voice recognition. Handwriting recognition might just become a thing of the past, what do you think?
