Apple is working hard on iPhone software and according to reports the beta version of the firmware v2.2 has been sent to developers for testing.
It is rumored that Background Push notifications has made it to the 2.2 firmware (that was removed from 2.1 to better concentrate on bug fixes). Also expected is a improved GPS functionality.
Background Push allows apps such as e-mail or instant messaging clients to receive messages, or other information, without requiring constant operation and/or draining a phone’s resources
No release date has been announced for the firmware version 2.2 yet.
