A very interesting info I came across recently claims that iPhone app users get bored very quickly and don’t use them actively. According to the survey 70% users stop using an app just 48hours after installing it and only 5% of the users actively use an app actively after 20 days in installing it.
There is no doubt that this happens. I just landed in kolkata, and my cousin here using iPhone 3G has 8pages full off apps. He installs almost all free apps that he can daily and lets them lie around untill he needs some space or his iPhone starts to crash too often.
While this is certainly true that app usage drops. But I see some justification to it. Firstly the Appstore gives a number of Free apps, and convenience with which It can be installed makes people try newer apps these days. Frankly that’s one of the reasons people visit us (iPhone Help) to hear about new apps and try them.
The springboard has 9 pages that allow you to place a number of apps, scrolling through them is very smooth and easy. So I really don’t care if an app just lies there and am not using it. I am sure that Paid apps would see much better usage as people plan before trying them.
