The beta 2 of iPhone 3.0 was released to developers recently. While the original announcement, by Apple skipped this little piece of info, the V3.0 of iPhone (at least in beta 2 as of now) allows 11 pages full of apps instead of 9 pages seen on iPhone v2.x.
Typically a page on the springboard displays 16 apps (and 4 static ones on the base). With 9 pages, the total amount of apps were restricted to 144+4. However, this would now go up to 176+4 i.e. 180 apps on your iPhone 3.0. So the app hungry iPhone users (might) have more space to accomodate the 30k AppStore apps on their iPhone. Cheers.
