In order to take the iPhone to the masses Apple/AT&T might reduce the minimum monthly plan charge for the upcoming iPhones. iPhone is a smart gadget with good media capabilities. All of Apple’s target audience does not need heavy data plans. With WiFi filling up the gap, AT&T can cut the cost by offering cheaper plans that would attract the masses. Currently AT&T plans for the iPhones start at $30 a month, this is expected to go down to $20 with limited data offerings.
Apple now has the iPhone as its cellphone, iPod and a portable gaming device. App store contribution to the bottom-line is expected to grow, and Apple would now like to capture a bigger share of the smartphone market within and outside the US.
Reports suggest that Apple’s cost of manufacturing an iPhone has gone down considerably, and Apple might surprise all by announcing subsidized iPhone(s) for as low as $99 this time! WWDC 09 holds the answer…
