WWDC 2009 is Apples biggest moment in 2009. With 15″ & 17″ Macbooks getting a refresh, new 13″ Macbook Pro introduced, Snow Leopard gets a launch date and the new iPhone 3GS.
After months of wild speculations, the 3rd Gen iPhone is finally here. Many of the rumored features are here, but a lot of those rumors were rightly identified as FAKE. To begin with there are no matter finish iPhone and no cheaper model. The iPhone 3GS looks very much the same as our iPhone 3G. However, all the refinements are hidden beneath the LCD.
Though no exact specifications are quoted by Apple, they claim 3GS to be 2x more responsive and faster than the current iPhone 3G. This certainly puts a validated stamp to the 256MB ram and 600Mhz processor rumors. A 3MP camera with Video capabilities is here, but no iMovie. Nike+ also makes it in.
The blurry night shots that we saw are all real as well. Digital compass (will help orientation of GPS Maps and smarter apps), autofocus camera etc all have made it to the iPhone 3GS. Parental control for iPhone apps will be a reality as adult apps will now make its way to the App Store.
iPhone 3.0 OS will play its magic in a weeks time, and the iPhone 3GS will hit the stores on 18th June (in US), reaching 80 countries by August. The 3GS comes in 16GB and 32GB variant costing $199 and $299 respectively. The iPhone 3G 8GB is on sale @ $99 until stock lasts.
