While the Apple iPhone goes on the break industry records and set new standards for mobile internet, there is some sad news for advertisers. According to a study conducted by Chitika based on whopping 92million ad impressions CTR (click through rate) on mobile devices is half of what it is on a regular system. That means mobile users do not click on Ads so easily!!
Recently the smartphone boom has prompted super charged internet devices to roll out into the markets. But poor monetization on mobile internet can hurt many. Specially the ones like google who rely massively on Ad revenues and have invested millions in backing mobile apps and OS’s (heard of Android?). Ad networks like ADmob and the recently upcoming Inmobi is highly bullish on mobile advertising. While its too early to claim that mobile ADs wont be as successful, some early indicators are sure in. With over 10% of our own traffic coming via mobile devices, I’m surely a worried webmaster :P.
