Androlib keeps track of the applications available on the Android Market. If the numbers from Androlib are to be believed, Android Market has crossed the mark of 20,000 applications. There is no official confirmation from Google on the number of applications but with 20k apps and strong Android devices it certainly getting difficult for 3GS to maintain its lead.
With just 10 Android phones launched in 2009, the numbers look pretty impressive. And for the 50+ handsets to be launched in 2010 (more here), a similar growth would cause the Android Market to explode with applications. The bar-chart above shows that more than 60% of the 20,009 applications on Android Market are free.
Will Android Market be able to pace up with the 1,00,000+ applications on the Apple’s AppStore? Tell us in the comments.
