With Nexus One, Google has finally arrived in direct competition with Apple in smart phone market. Google calls it a Superphone, and it indeed satisfies the buzz.
Google unveiled the HTC Nexus One at its Android press gathering, Nexus One comes with Android 2.1 (Eclair) OS. Lighter and slimmer than iPhone, Nexus One comes with a 4GB memory card (32 GB expandable) and a removable battery.
The Superphone has a huge 3.7 inch 480 x 800 AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with back, menu, home and search buttons on the bottom and a navigation trackball device which doubles as a notification light. Not just that, it also has a 5 MP Camera with LED Flash and autofocus.
On the software front, it has Google Voice embedded and Facebook and Twitter as well. Also, supports Live wallpapers, GPS navigation on Google Maps, App scrolling in 3D with CoolIris for viewing photos. But probably the most impressive feature in the phone is its integration of Voice support for all text entry. However, housed on Google servers, this app may not be accessible if the user is out of range.
But the huge 3.7″ AMOLED touchscreen takes up a lot of battery. Google plans to ship it to customers in US, UK, Hong Kong and Singapore currently. So, for us in India, its obviously a sad wait, waiting for some relative to arrive from US.
