Alongside the announcement of the iType keyboard, ION has also announced iDiscover, which is another keyboard, more specifically it’s a piano keyboard. Targeting musicians who own an iPhone or iPod Touch, a 25-note device customized with a dock can bring them a pleasant time of making beautiful music through their devices.
According to MusicRadar, “The keys have a synth action and are velocity-sensitive, and there are also pitch/mod wheels and a selection of control buttons. The hardware works in tandem with the iDiscover Keyboard app, which contains a variety of instrument sounds that can be played and recorded.”
iDiscover features a 25-key MIDI keyboard, a pitch and mod wheel and preset buttons for the patch and octave changes. While most of the interesting music applications on iPhone don’t use MIDI keyboards, ION has provided their own application which uses the device to play your MIDI notes, thus creating what can be called as a virtual music studio.
Not only can you use the keyboard with your iPhone or iPod Touch, ION has also provided a USB connection, which will allow the connection to either a MAC or a PC. The release date of this Keyboard and its companion application are said to be around spring time, while the price is yet to be determined.
