Steve Jobs has put media houses / publishers in a catch 22 situation with no support for Adobe Flash on the iPhone / iPad platform. Now now matter who is right in this stand off between Apple and Adobe, millions of websites using Adobe Flash are affected.
Given the importance of iPad for newspapers / magazines who want to tap the digital stream, the Wall Street Journal and National Public Radio have now made Flash free versions of their homepage that would go just fine with the iPad. No mockups or demo of how this optimized experience for the iPad would be, but then that ain’t any secret for long 🙂
While you can also expect apps for iPhone made by WSJ / NPR to be ported to an iPad to realise its full potential, the optimized web interface is something most publishers would consider. In the days to come you can also expect iPhoneHelp optimized for the iPad browser (iPhone aswell).
