While the rumors of iPhone replacing Google search with Bing is on since some time, who would have guessed that Google search would be pushed out of an Android phone? Well that’s exactly what has happened with Google refusing to censor search results in China (read the Google China issue here). Now as things unfold, Google’s partners in China are feeling the heat.
To comply with the Chinese authorities, Motorola which sells Android powered XT800 ZHISHANG to China Telecom has now replaced Google search in the handset with Microsoft’s Bing. It would be interesting to see how Apple changes the default iPhone / iPod touch in China. The Chinese government isn’t an easy one to supress. Here is the message sent out by the govt:
“All websites please clean up text, images and sound and videos which support Google, dedicate flowers to Google, ask Google to stay, cheer for Google and others have a different tune from government policy.”
