While the official teardown of the iPad is yet to happen and we eagerly await the tidbits from all the engineering effort Apple has put into the 10″ odd body size. We have at-least once glimpse of the iPad battery (not removable) via the FCC.
The iPad battery isn’t soldered into the board, but detachable just at the iPhone 3G and 3GS ones are.
