Remember the I Am Rich iPhone application? In case you haven’t heard of it, the app was listed in the AppStore for $999.99 and did nothing but flash a Gem Logo on your iPhone. The app was later removed by apple. Now, we have the first $900 app for the iPad. But this one, it seems, does some work.
EP Visual Design have developed this $900 SiteCloner Publisher app. Target to corporate and government customers, the app is a framework that allows customers to build apps which can pull content from websites for offline use. If you purchase this app, you could create your own app that pulls videos, audio clips, pictures and other media from websites when the iPad is online. The websites can then be viewed in the offline mode, or when there is no internet connectivity available.
But seriously, $900 app? “The app contains two years of in-house development work, so we didn’t want to make it too cheap,” said Pete Meyers, vice president of EP Visual. “If we sell a few of them, hopefully we can lower the price.”
