There is some cheer for Adobe in the smartphone race with a confirmation that Android would have a Flash supported version out soon. The news was made official by Andy Rubin (Chief Architect, Android) in an interview. Known as Froyo, the next edition of Android OS i.e. v2.2 is coming in 2H 2010. Adobe had demoed Flash on the Android platform last year and ever since then the count down for its official entry was on. Given the rapid growth of mobile industry, Adobe sure feels left out with major platforms not supporting Flash at the moment. Perhaps concentrating on the Android without worrying about the iPhone tweaks, helps them 😛
Froyo is already getting popular with leaked Android roadmaps showing up, there is no doubt that manufacturers are banking on it to compete with the iPhone finally. If Google / Adobe can get the Flash working properly, the tables might turn for Apple who has been publicly ditching Adobe Flash in favor of HTML5.
