AT&T tries to highlight enterprise demand for iPhone

Now that was a little surprise that came from AT&T recently. According to Ron Spears (CEO of AT&T’s Business Solutions) recent disclosure, 40% of of iPhone sales happen to businesses. Given the strong dominance Blackberry has in the enterprise market, this comes as a surprise to many who believe the iPhone to be a smartphone with rich media features that appeals to the consumer market.

According to Ron, the iPhone is seen as a mobile computer that can do lot more than just voice. Perhaps the great web poweress and business applications make the iPhone a good choice for many enterprises. The 3G and the 3GS made significant moves towards the enterprise market and AT&T believes that the iPhone pleases the CIO’s of leading cos.
Having said that, the countdown for Android to come and compete in this space is now officially on 😉 . And hey, even the iPad should do pretty well if businesses love the iPhone, afterall its as cheap as a netbook!
PS: Anyone else seeing this iPhone love from AT&T as a indication of what to expect from the iPhone 4th Gen launch @ WWDC on 7th June? 😛
