Just days after Motorola was sued by Microsoft for its Android phones, Motorola has actually hit back on Apple with a lawsuit and complaint to US ITC (International Trade Commission). According to Motorola, Apple’s products like iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and some Macs (also including services like Mobile Me & App Store) violates several patents that they hold.
The Motorola patents include wireless communication technologies, such as WCDMA (3G), GPRS, 802.11 and antenna design, and key smartphone technologies including wireless email, proximity sensing, software application management, location-based services and multi-device synchronization.
Now we already know how this is going to shape up. Apple is already in a lawsuit with Nokia and with HTC for its Android portfolio. I would say its just a matter of days to the time when we hear that Apple has hit back on Motorola. The whole smartphone game is looking terribly messed up with patent suits here. Wonder where its headed!
