Now this is as weird as it gets. We all knew that SkyFires’s pseudo flash enabled browser of the same name was to make its debut in to the Apple App Store some time this week. Well the unthinkable did happen earlier today and it seems folks over at SkyFire are having a hard time meeting the traffic demands of iOS users.
Those of you who are trying to download the application would now be (mostly) greeted with a iTunes error message that says ” The item you have requested is not currently available in the US store”. Strangely enough, people from other parts of the world too are reporting the same issue. So who is to blame here?
No, Apple hasnt pulled the browser from the store. Due to the higher than expected traffic, SkyFire says it had to withdraw the app so that it can enhance its capacity of its servers to cater the needs of newfound iOS users. Unlike competitor Opera Mini, Skyfire is a paid app that costs $2.99. That however hasnt stopped it from becoming the the top grossing app in the iTunes App Store. While we do not have the numbers yet, we wonder if it has surpassed the number of Opera Mini downloads on the very first day.
We are yet to confirm if this app is available for use in India. This is after Skyfire withdrew support from a bunch of countries including India a few months ago for its Symbian version.
