Its well known that the iPhone runs in a contained state on the AT&T network. The network hungry nature of iPhone (thanks to the wonderful browser and apps), AT&T has to restrict the data usage and restrict features like tethering for a long time. But the Verizon iPhone comes with a Persona Hotspot capability allowing you to connect to 5 other devices. While Verizon said on stage during the launch that this is an ‘app’, it actually turned out to be a feature integrated in iOS 4.2.5 that the Verizon iPhone 4 is running.
So far we are yet to pick any new feature there and its logical that the CDMA and GSM iPhone would have different firmwares coming out, the question running on everyones mind is clear – Will the AT&T iPhone get WiFi hotspots? AT&T is sure looking to compete with Verizon here, with their biggest exclusive ever being shared. The bandwidth race has probably begin, and YOU are the winner!
