With the launch of new Macbook Pros on Thursday, Apple also released a preview of Mac OS X Lion for developers. Lion has many features that makes iOS and Mac OS X interconnected to each other such as LaunchPad and creating folders. The story doesn’t end here as some evidences proved that Apple may release ‘Find My Mac’ version for Macbooks which can be exactly similar to ‘Find My iPhone’ service but differ in some functionalities.
Find my iPhone lets you swipe, restore, lock and track the recent location of the device on google maps. 9to5 Mac have found references which proves that Apple is testing ‘Find My Mac’ feature internally and it will appear with Mac OS X lion public release in Summer. However, the actual file doesn’t tell anything beside the name but they do share lion build no : 11A372z.
That build number appears to be an internal seed, meaning Apple has been playing around with this Find my Mac feature internally, but swiped it from the developer preview. If it means anything, Apple didn’t actually announce Find my iPhone until WWDC 2009, but it was found in the iOS 3 beta file system a few months earlier.
Restoring a Mac is completely different from that of iOS. Therefore, Apple will implement fast encryption service that can be unlocked only by the user when it’s returned.
