Google sure loves the iPhone. We know this since long. A hell lot of its services are optimized for the iOS and that sure gives a bump to the usage of these apps. Google has its own apps on the App Store and at the same time it is the default search option in Safari (Apple had added Bing as an option too). A lot of app developers use Google’s mobile ad solution to display ads inside their apps, that makes Google more money.
So we aren’t surprised when Daniel Alegre Google’s Asia-Pacific president comments and says there is no Android vs iPhone for them. Both get them more users and revenues! He also stressed that there needs to be fewer platforms in the market for Developers to focus. We agree wholeheartedly! But then Google sure knows that they need to have greater control on mobile and as we type, they are putting in a 100% on Android development.
“Whenever iPhone succeeds, Google succeeds,” – Daniel
