RIM has the Blackberry Playbook finally selling in the market and while they are working to get a lot of functionality added soon (includes the Android apps), it is interesting that they have Facebook already launching a native app. If we note, its been over a year since the iPad is out and Facebook doesn’t have a native app on it. The best UI we have seen is by Friendcaster and Facebook says iPad is not a mobile, so what is Playbook? A toy?
We wonder what makes Facebook make an app for Playbook, Did RIM pay them some money? iPad is the best seller in the market and 3rd party app makers are making a killer with pathetic apps on the App Store. We would believe that there is some commercials involved here, why else would Facebook want to be on Playbook before iOS?
Facebook has a heavy presence on mobile with a native app for almost all platforms. We have one right from Symbian to WebOS. But in the tablets space the things have been different. Facebook has mysteriously ignored this space, with Native app coming for Playbook, I guess a lot of other platforms aren’t very far off.
