With WWDC looming large, there has been considerable buzz about the new features that might be incorporated with iOS 5. One feature however might just have been inadvertently leaked by none other than Apple themselves if we are to believe folks from over at MacRumors. They have managed to grab a screenshot of an updated iTunes update page. In the section where it talks about the “My App Updates”, a new line had been added which reads thus;
“Or if your device has Automatic Download enabled for apps, your updates will download to your device without having to sync.”
If you are not much in to updating your iOS devices and stuff, never mind. For those who know, you might be aware of the fact that whenever iTunes checks your app library for updates, it leads you to this update page where until now, this line was absent. What’s significant about this line? Well, as of now this automatic download feature that’s being talked about is absent for all iOS devices.
Once iOS 5 arrives, if this news does turn out to be true, we can expect the addition of this feature that would enable you to automatically allow iTunes to update installed apps on your device without having to do the task manually. What is also interesting is the possibility of this automatic updates for apps transitioning from a mere “apps only” features to a much broader support for over the air updates for iOS devise in the future. Anyway, let us also inform you that Apple has since then removed the much revealing line. But the damage has already been done!
