As we already know, Apple has recently launched the rumored factory unlocked iPhone 4 in the USA at a very descent prices. Since the launch of first generation iPhone (iPhone 2G), Apple never sold carrier unlocked iPhone in the country. Surprisingly, iPhone 4 landed in India factory unlocked as well and sold through Airtel & Aircel with some subsidize plans which offers 100% money back guarantee or maximum returns. However, iPhone 4 in India was priced much more than expectations.
Below, we are comparing the prices of factory unlocked iPhone 4 released in the US and India. It would be fair enough to compare the prices as there are no restrictions of a contract from the carrier.
In India, the factory unlocked iPhone 4 is sold via Airtel & Aircel for Rs 34,500 & Rs 40,900 (16GB & 32GB model) respectively. If we compare the prices of both the models with the USA, we will find out that the iPhone 4 in India has been priced (34,500-29,042.75 = 5,457.25) a bit more for the basic 16GB version. Here, it should be noted that the plans from Aircel & Airtel with the iPhone 4 returns all or some of your money in few months. However, it doesn’t matter for someone who wants to use his iPhone 4 on networks other than them.
If you are lucky enough to have a source in the USA which can ship the iPhone 4 (GSM) factory unlocked in India, you will be able to save few buck for sure. This could be an indication towards the fact that iPhone 5 which is rumored to be launched in September will be sold factory unlocked through AT&T in coming months.
Note : All Apple products except iPhone have a global warranty.
