Nokia is making a comeback into the smartphone space with refreshing new devices. One we have seen if of course the Meego powered N9, whereas the other is result of the NokMsft tie-up. Nokia’s first Windows phone device is codenamed ‘Sea Ray‘ and invitations of an event on 17th August (Germany) are prompting rumors that the first WP7 device from Nokia would be announced at the event. The event invitationposted by Slashgear carries Nokia, Microsoft and Windows Phone branding.
Given that Microsoft has pushed out Windows Phone’s next built to manufacturers, announcements are obvious. In fact, Fujitsu has already announced the IS12T last week. But here is where this gets really interesting. Nokia’s first MeeGo powered device, the N9, which was supposed to launch in August might have been pushed back to September now. N9 and Windows Phone powered Sea Ray launching on the same day can be a clash for Nokia and it seems that they chose to delay the N9 to ensure it doesn’t steal WP7’s thunder.
You can’t accuse Nokia of being partial, after all they have already declared Windows Phone 7 as their bet for the future. Our only concern, A good product like N9 is now getting over shadowed and perhaps would get compared to the likes of Android Ice-cream sandwich and iPhone 5 when it comes out.
