We would have loved to call this a rumor from WSJ, but we are still scratching our heads, wondering what bit of exclusive news this has? Isn’t it logical to have a new iPad in early 2012, given that we have seen two versions of the tablet already? If anyone counts that iPad 3 in 2011 rumor, the WSJ piece today claiming 2012 iPad is like a rumor to kill another wild rumor? Wow.
WSJ reports that Apple is already geting small supplies of 9.7″ screen with 2048×1536 resolution for testing the next iPad. Targeting an early 2012 release, Apple would begin a trial run in October. The display is coined as ‘Retina Display‘ by WSJ. The entire report is just a piece of easy guesses for anyone to make. For example, when Apple increased the resolution of the iPhone to 960×640 last year, it was double the previous figure 480×320. The same is expected with the iPad whenever there is a bump. So the current 1024×768 would go on to become 2048 x 1536.
The report fails to name any suppliers, for instance Sharp. Nor does the report speak of any OS updates or new features like NFC. Clearly a plain old trend from Apple picked up and formed into a rumor. Lets look forward to the iPhone 5 for now.
