The same developer, Steven Troughton-Smith who ported Siri to iPhone 4 claims that Apple has already started selling factory unlocked iPhone 4S in USA. Though he said that these unlocked iPhone 4S are available at selected Apple Stores. If we check out the official Apple site, it shows us that Apple would sell sim-free iPhone 4S starting from November which is surprising at this point.
However, we don’t have any confirmation from other customers that this news is credible or not. But according to the screenshot posted by this iOS developer, he has been able to run T-mobile carrier on his iPhone 4S. And he couldn’t fool with it because there is no software/hardware unlock available for the device right now.
9to5Mac also posted screenshot of the iTunes where he was notified that his iPhone had been unlocked and ready to use with any carrier. When Apple could ship iPhone 4s to some customers prior to October 14 then it shouldn’t be a big deal for them. Let’s know in the comment section if something similar has happened with you too.
