Off late Apple is getting in the news for all the wrong reasons. First it was the downtime faced by Siri, Apple iPhone 4S’ so called personal assistant and then came the news of battery issues on the iPhone 4S and other iOS 5 based devices.
Well the trouble just doesn’t seem to be getting over with Apple now recalling its first generation iPod Nano’s due to battery issues. As per Apple, ageing batteries on the first gen. iPod Nano’s pose a safety risk, although no accidents have been reported as of now.
As per the recall page posted on the website, the warranty covers only the first gen. iPod Nano’s purchased between September 2005 to December 2006. The battery problem seems to have arisen due to a manufacturing defect caused by the then battery supplier.
In order to assert if your iPod Nano is valid for a replacement, you can check the same by keying in the serial number on the device here. The newly replaced iPod Nano will carry a warranty of 90 days.
Its certainly a blessing in disguise for all the first gen iPod Nano owners, whose little music player by now must have either become defunct or lying unused in some corner. 🙂
