Acidra1n is another alternative of Redsn0w which lets you JailBreak your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad on iOS 5.0.1. Apparently, many people had pointed fingers on the unix hacker that the tool uses Apple code which is not at all legal. The statement came from MuscleNerd itself who is responsible for the first ever iOS 5 JailBreak tool. Considering this fact, the developer has updated his tool to solve these legality issues and various other improvements.
The place where Acidra1n went wrong was where it automatically recognized the IPSW files. However, this method has been implemented in the Redsn0w as well, but it has been done through different way. Though you can still point out any firmware version in Redsn0w for the tool to recognize it till rest of the process.
