Officially, the process of downgrading your iDevice below the latest firmware version is not possible. Though there has always existed some tools such as TinyUmbrella which allowed us to rejoice this functionality and keep our JailBreak alive. Unfortunately, even that method was closed since the release of iOS 5.0. But this has made possible again with the help of iFaith V 1.4 from iH8sn0w.
iFaith is a tool from a hacker who primarily concentrate on releasing tools for Window-based platforms only. Though, it is separate story that iH8sn0w always had plans to support Mac OS X devices too which never turned into reality. That it why, iFaith V 1.4 currently runs on Windows. With iFaith, you can save SHSH Blobs for Apple TV 2 on iOS 4.x.x and other devices on iOS 5.0/iOS 5.0.1 firmware. When you run the tool, click on “Dump SHSH Blobs” which would save SHSH Blobs on your computer instantly.
These saved SHSH Blobs will help you to create a signed IPSW with Blobs which can be restored on your iDevice. In this way, you can downgrade to lower firmware version. To save SHSH Blobs, it will ask you to enter your device into DFU mode. Please follow the instructions very carefully. Any wrong step will let you to re-start the process once again. iH8sn0w has himself created a video to explain about the tool and what is actually happening from the past few months which restrict us to save SHSH Blobs on iOS 5.x.x.
