Samsung has finally managed to taste its first success by getting the ban on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia reversed. Apple and Samsung have been engaged in the patent battle across the globe with the design of the Galaxy Tab being the primary bone of contention.
The Australian High Court yesterday denied Apple’s appeal to an earlier Australian Court verdict which had overturned the ban on the sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Though it seemed like the court would allow Apple’s appeal against the overturning to go through after Australian High court had extended the ban on the Galaxy tab for a week.
Samsung has welcomed the decision by the Australian High Court and has said that the tab would be available in the shopping season. At the same time Samsung has issued a press release stating that the verdict originally given Justice Annabelle Bennett was not fair.
Meanwhile Apple says that its convinced that the similarity in design of the Galaxy Tab and the iPad is not a coincidence and that Samsung had intentionally cope the design and also that they would do their best in order to protect the intellectual properties of Apple’s from other manufacturers.
This decision by the Australian High Court would be very instrumental in Samsung’s defense of the Galaxy tab in other countries where it is currently banned or where the cases are still going on.
