This might sounds a bit weird, but we have come across an iPhone 4S, sold in India from carriers such as Aircel and Airtel have an option under settings which says “3D World”. After lots of research, we haven’t able to find the purpose of this toggle. However, this option is not available on any other iPhone. For the first time, we have seen any iPhone with this option. It could be an indication that Apple is testing 3D functionality for the next generation iPhone.
This iPhone 4S is on the latest firmware iOS 5.0.1, still under warranty. In fact, we thought that this toggle could be dependent on the carrier. Perhaps, even after switching from Vodafone to Docomo, it didn’t disappear. We are still not sure what is the exact reason for this toggle to show up accidentally on this iPhone 4S. We have heard earlier that Apple has patented a 3D projection which would work without glasses.
Usually, if you navigate to settings>App Store, you would find only Music, Applications, Use Cellular data and an Apple id on a normal iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S. Anyhow, this has become a mystery that why we have this ‘3D World’ toggle on this iPhone 4S. Though, it didn’t do anything when we turned it ON or OFF. It remains there on an iPhone 4S. Do you have same ‘3D World’ toggle on your iPhone 4S? Let’s know in the comment section. We will keep you updated on it.

[Update]: We have figured out that the option occurred due to a 3D world magazine from the App Store which was downloaded for the Newsstand. It has nothing to do with the upcoming 3D feature on iPhone.
