As soon as the launch dates of an Apple Product dawns, plenty of rumors regarding accessories and new designs keep surfacing. The latest news doing the rounds is that Apple is currently working on a new design for the iPad 3 Smart Cover and Gorilla Glass 2 backed iPhone 5.
Taking cue from the current Smart Cover design Apple is trying to add more funtionality to the same. One criticism that Apple faced was that the Smart Cover dont provide protection for the ipad 2 back surface. But the new cover will be more in line with the In-Case Magazine cover providing rear protection for iPad 3.
Apple recently acknowledged Corning as one of their suppliers saying Corning employees at Kentucky and New York make majority
of their iPhone glass. If reports are to be believed Apple is strengthening its relationship with Corning. As per reports Apple is experimenting with “glass and ceramic rear shells” for the next generation iPhone. Despite rumors that iPhone 5 will have an aluminium casing, iLounge editor Jeremy Horwitz has strong reasons to believe that Apple will be using Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2. Corning unveiled Gorilla Glass 2 at CES 2012. Apple is apparently choosing the glass back to make the phone slimmer and lighter and is also contemplating to discontinue its 30-pin dock connector.
With the implementation of those magnets inside the iPad which makes the iPad smart cover so smart, we believe that it would certainly be a leap in terms of innovation. Perhaps, we wish that it wouldn’t add bulk to the device which has always been the main concern for the company. Also, the beauty and looks of the device would remain intact.
